The Task

Our first project for Morrison Utilities to construct a new electrical sub-station in connection with a new centre in London. While vastly experienced at providing upgraded infrastructure projects, Morrison needed the experience of a Building contractor to build the new-sub station

The works

The building housing the switchgear is steel framed and metal clad, similar to an industrial building albeit with architecturally enhanced screening at each end. The building in constructed around and integrates in with three external plant areas which are surrounded and protected with 10m high precast concrete blast walls.

The results

Precise con ordination was required between the precast concrete elements and the main building elements due to tight tolerances and fire integrity requirements/. The precast blast walls were dropped craned into narrow channels formed as part of the floor structure while the steel frame was built progressively.
