DNA Electronics

Brennan Limited have delivered laboratory facilities to DNA Electronics, a pioneer in next generation sequencing.

The Challenge

Imperial College London’s Wood Lane site provided space in Centre House but this 1960’s building required a complete strip-out prior to a comprehensive programme of refurbishments including full M&E installation, AV, data, suspended ceilings, partitions and decorations.

DNAE required the creation of bespoke laboratories, and the installation of scientific equipment and specialist furniture to meet the demands of their work.  In parallel, board rooms, meeting rooms, offices, welfare, storage and reception were incorporated into the final design.

The project presented multiple challenges including a design that had not been agreed prior to commencement.  Working closely with both clients, we were able to deliver a well-planned, practical and inspirational space, reflecting the culture of each organisation.

The Results

The project highlights the importance of a defect-free handover.  Once the laboratories commence operational use, it is extremely difficult if not impossible for remedial work to be undertaken thus it is critical that the areas are de-snagged and 100% complete.
