Imperial College London Autolus
One of a series of repeat projects for Imperial College for tenant Autolus at Forest House. Autolus are building a leading biotechnology company focussed on the development and commercialisation of engineered T-cell therapies for haematological and solid tumours. Autolus has the ambition to be a leader of a revolution in medicine in which life-threatening diseases are treated by a patient’s own cells.
Project details
The project consists of alterations to the existing ground and first floor areas to support the bespoke fit-out of the space to the client’s requirements to deliver facilities to support their research programme. Works include:
- Lining to existing external walls and secondary double glazing to increase thermal insulation values on the ground floor.
- Construction of new spaces on the first to create new laboratory areas including the facilitation of specialist furniture.
- Construction of new partitioning on the ground floor to create
- four meeting rooms
- eight office rooms
- an open plan office area
- video conference room
- tea point.
- The ground floor area will also have a new suspended ceiling throughout.
- Installation of a carbon dioxide manifold to deliver the gas to the 1st floor labs has been included in the project
Works also include additional mechanical & electrical installation, decorative finishes and a full laboratory fit out to the first floor (north) by a specialist contractor.
Key client benefits
The ability to hand over a snag-free space is essential in the delivery of laboratories conducting this type of research. Once operational, it is not possible in this case to re-enter the room to conduct any remedial work.
