Imperial College Westway Cycle Hub
Brennan has been carrying out projects for Imperial College and associated organizations or over ten years. The latest being the design and build of a new Cycle Hub located under the A40 Westway as part of Imperial’s White City Campus
The Works
The £1 million project involved the formation of a new cycle storage facility to accommodate some 800 cycles built around two large UKPN electrical sub-stations and enclosed with an Architect designed decorative security fencing system.
The works required careful consideration and highly developed management planning to comply with the requirements of working adjacent to high voltage electrical equipment.
The Outcome
The new facility includes cycle stands and racks, water fountains/bottle fillers, bike pump stations and bike repair stations as well as benching and seating. The existing ground levels were adjusted to accommodate new paving throughout.
High quality lighting and Imperial College approved access control systems were installed to enhance security and allow integration of the new facility into the wider Imperial College access protocols.
